Smile More with Whiter, Brighter Teeth
Have you ever felt embarrassed in social settings due to stained or discolored teeth? A smile is one of the most attractive features to have, and everyone deserves to be confident in the way theirs looks.
Dr. Ang wants his patients to look and feel their best, which is why he offers teeth whitening as a pain-free, non-invasive way to achieve a whiter smile.
Teeth Whitening Services We Offer
At Amherst Village Dental, we use innovative technology to comfortably and safely provide you with the whitest teeth possible. For your convenience, we offer in office and take home treatments.
In the Office
For patient’s who want their teeth whitened fast and don’t want to do it themselves, we offer Opalescence®. This treatment will provide you with white, beautiful teeth in just one office visit. This in-office treatment contains potassium nitrate and fluoride, helping to strengthen enamel and aid in cavity protection.
The only thing our patients will be responsible for is maintaining their white teeth at home with our take home kit. Opalescence® is a popular choice for patients who have healthy teeth that have been stained over years by beverages such as coffee, soda, and/or red wine.
Whiten at Home
Some patients would rather whiten their teeth gradually from the comfort of their own home. Our take-home kit is an instant-impression mouthpiece that offers custom results without the hassle of retail whitening strips or boil-and-bite trays.
The kit comes with four treatment syringes — containing about 15 treatments in each syringe. This slowly whitens your teeth after a few uses. This gradual whitening technique is perfect for those with sensitive teeth.
What Causes Stained Teeth?
While everyone strives to maintain a white smile, our teeth are susceptible to staining on a daily basis. Many of the food and drinks that we regularly consume contain staining properties, such as dark colors or high levels of acidity.
Food and drinks most likely to stain teeth and weaken enamel include:
- Black Tea
- Sports Drinks
- Red and White Wine
- Sugary foods
- Condiments such as Soy Sauce, Balsamic Vinegar, and Ketchup
- Fruit Juices
- Brightly Colored Fruits and Vegetables
Preventing Stained Teeth
Since many of the food and drinks we enjoy frequently can stain our teeth, cutting them out completely may be difficult. However, there are ways to enjoy the things you love without your teeth suffering the consequences.
1. Take a sip of water during and after eating or drinking — this will help clear away any acids or staining compounds.
2. Brush your teeth after rinsing with water — if you brush your teeth before rinsing out your mouth, you may brush the acids and staining compounds into your teeth.
To ensure your teeth remain white after treatments, it’s crucial that you follow these preventive tips after each snack or meal. Chewing sugar-free gum in addition to these actions is a great way to prevent your mouth from becoming dry because it produces saliva.
